Temesak Regatta 2006

Twenty Secondary Schools attended the 2nd temesal Regatta at
Bedok Reservoir on 21 April 2006.

SAVA was there to congratulate the Organisor, temesak Polytechnic
for a memorable event.

ANNOUNCEMENT

 
 Singapore 10 km Challenge 2006
 
AustCham , SAVA and SDBA have jointly arranged a 10 km Race to be held on Saturday 22 April 2006 at 3pm.
 
This is a serious race and is the first long distance race in 6 years. The organisers want this to become an annual event in the Singapore Calendar.
 
A Shield will be presented to the winning team and medals will be presented to 1st, 2nd and 3rd places.
 
The race provides an excellent kick-off for team's preparation for the June Dragon Boat Festival.
 
All Dragon boat teams who satisfy the criteria are invited to participate in this Race .
 
All paddlers must be over 18 years of age and all teams must be affiliates of SDBA.
 
A crew will comprise of a maximum of 18 paddlers + 1 Steersman. No drummer. Teams may enter more than one crew
 
The race start and finishing point is at Merdaka Bridge, with 5 turn around points at Kallang Basin and along Marina Channel.
 
This event is an "open race" and is limited to 20 teams. Registration is on a first come first served basis.
 
Please register by e-mailing dragonboat@sava.com.sg by latest 31st March 2006 .
 
The registration Fee is $190 per boat ($10 per person). Payment must be made by 7th April on notification of the acceptance of your entry.
 
Register early to secure a place in this great race !
 
Team captains will be required to attend a safety and operational briefing prior to the race
 
(The SDBA rules of racing will generally apply where applicable and the organisers reserve the right to accept or reject any entry)
   

9th WORLD FIREFIGHTERS GAMES
HONG KONG, CHINA

 
WORLD FIREFIGHTERS CHAMPIONS

SAVA was invited to witness the 9th World Firefighters Games Dragon Boat Races in Hong Kong on 24 February 2006. The Macau Fire Brigade narrowly beat Hong Kong Fire Brigade in the Final over the 250m course on the Shing Mun River, Sha Tin, Hong Kong.

PATHFINDER
On 18th February 2006, modern classic One Fullerton at beautiful Marina Bay created the perfect setting for an historic dragon boat event. Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports, and Second Minister for Trade and Industry, welcomed the inaugural paddle of South East Asia's and probably Asia's First Visually impaired dragon boat team named "Naga Merah".

BRITISH DRAGONS SINGAPORE DOT THE EYES OF THE DRAGON !

SAVA congratulates British Dragons, the official dragon boat team of the British Chamber of Commerce Singapore, on the launch of their new boat at Kallang Riverside Park , Singapore , on 21 January 2006. A Champion brand dragon boat made to IDBF specifications and IDBF licenced, was dressed in the colours of the Team sponsors, Asian Tigers KC Dat (S) Pte Ltd.

Helen Wilson of British Dragons, and Customer Service & Public Relations Manager of Asian Tigers K.C. Dat, remarked “It was a proud day for the Team and the general consensus is that we have the most eye catching dragon boat on the water in Singapore. Our thanks for the support of our generous sponsor as well as to the British Chamber of Commerce.
